birch’s Ben Sukle pulled an Adele and voted against himself in Round 1 of March Restaurant Madness, BUT he’s also a finalist for a James Beard award, the only Rhode Islander to get the honor this year. Nominees in the food writing categories include articles called “How to Make Beer-Can Chicken,” “The Barnacle Queens of the Spanish Seaside,” and “The Culinary Education of Mr. Mozzarella Stix.”
