Epic Theatre Company is dedicating its summer to classic television, starting with David Adjmi’s grim satire 3C. (Adjmi wrote the Marie Antoinette that the Gamm did awhile back.) Based broadly on the sitcom Three’s Company, the play involves three roommates and a landlord couple, but unlike that show’s jokey absurdity, this one’s pretty NC-17, with nudity and rape and drugs and a lot of homophobic behavior and psychological baggage. The play was caught in legal limbo for a few years when the Three’s Company people got involved, but production rights recently became available for the first time. The question is, will anyone else actually want to stage it? Epic’s production is your last chance to see the show in the United States this year.
