AS220’s big annual street party always falls on the Saturday that my family celebrates my dad’s birthday, so I never show up to the party until it’s late and everyone is bombed and stinky from standing in the August sun for ten hours. If it’s not your dad’s birthday, you should go early and enjoy the Mini Maker Faire whatever else is happening, not to mention the twenty bands that are playing over the course of the day. (There’s a death metal band called Churchburn and the folksy wizard rock of Harry and the Potters, and most of the other bands fall somewhere in between.) By the way, right now it’s looking like a bunch of those bands will be up for Dorrys nominations next week, so take notes.
