There are so very many Christmas events going on this month that it’s nice to see the CCRI Players offering some counter-programming. Joshua Harmon’s 2014 comedy Bad Jews is about three cousins fighting over who deserves to inherit their grandfather’s Chai necklace – vocal atheist Liam (Francis Gilleese), or his super-religious cousin Daphna (Ashley Bouthillette). They both have a lot of opinions; Liam’s brother Jonah (Isaac Larosee), meanwhile, mostly tries to stay out of it. The play scored rave reviews in New York when it was first staged. (“The funniest comedy of the season,” said the Times.) It runs for one weekend only at CCRI’s Providence campus.
There’s a matinee performance at 2pm and an evening performance at 7:30.
