Harold Pinter’s 1978 play Betrayal is a drama told in reverse about a seven year affair between a gallerist and a literary agent. Moderately insufferable Emma (Tanya Anderson) and Jerry (David Tessier) carry on their deception right under the nose of Robert (Tom Chace), Emma’s terribly insufferable husband and Jerry’s best friend. Everyone carries on about playing squash and visiting a Venetian island called Torcello. The themes of imaginary novels are discussed and many alcoholic beverages are consumed. The audience sits on the stage in a clever, cozy staging that includes spinning glass doors to represent scene changes, as the action moves from apartment to house to hotel and back again.
