Westerly’s United Theatre is currently working on a plan to expand the former movie house into a 336-seat first floor venue with a movie theater on the second floor. It’s an ambitious plan, but downtown Westerly seems to be on the upswing lately. Bruce Harris returns to the venue for a third year in a row. (He’s a fan of the raw space, it seems.) He’s played with Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Count Basie Orchestra, and Wynton Marsalis called him one of the five important young jazz musicians you should know.
