RISD’s Ceramics Biennial features work from a dozen first- and second-year MFA students, and there are more hits than misses. Martin McDermott’s glazed stoneware is the most immediately engaging work on display, two ominous black vertical lines in the lobby and a large pumpkin-colored rock in the gallery. Also worth a look: Rebecca Buglio’s “Last Dance,” rich brown oak trees sprouting from oversized stone acorns, and Iggy’s Garden Series, sand-filled porcelain pieces by Iggy Choi.
