chanticleer westerly

Grammy winning chorus Chanticleer return to Westerly for a military themed program that takes the all-male ensemble out of their usual scared territory. The twelve member group will perform a diverse program that includes Russian soldier songs and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” as well as texts by Walt Whitman and a version of Pete Seeger’s anti-war “Where Have All the Flowers Gone.” Contemporary composers Jennifer Higdon and Mason Bates are also represented. Singing a half millennium’s worth of songs in five languahes, the grou debuted the program in San Francisco last month to mostly positive reviews.
