Wheeler’s Chazan Gallery is showing work by two very process-oriented locals, Emma Hogarth and Ben Watkins. Hogarth’s Achromatic series consists of diptychs, one side comprised of paper embossed with the imprints of elaborate photo frames. The other half of the diptych includes digital scans of the paper, mistranslated 2D representations of the 3D work, if that makes any sense. Ben Watkins is a three-dimensional artist whose clean plaster casts work in reverse, the negative space on display in lieu of the suggested object.
