September is traditionally a dead time for movie theaters, and this year it’s especially true. This weekend had the worst box office showing since September 2001, and next week might be even worse. There’s not a single major new release, besides a 40th anniversary reissue of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. What does that mean? Well, it’s probably a good time to catch up on movies you meant to see but haven’t gotten to, since chances are they won’t be going anywhere. Check the Movie Lounge on Thursday for your best bets – I’m thinking Steven Soderbergh’s comeback Logan Lucky or maybe Robert Pattinson’s grownup thriller, the critically loved commercial flop Good Time.
