The Chorus of Westerly presents their annual Summer Pops concert in Wilcox Park, which is surely one of the nicest parks in the state to spend a summer evening. The pre-show starts at 6:15 with the Westerly High School Band doing selections from Les Mis and Lawrence of Arabia, followed by the Westerly Morris Men doing some oldies. The Chorus of Westerly / Pops Festival Orchestra settles in at 8pm for a night of George M. Cohan and music from West Side Story (among others). In a strange and potentially conflict-inducing move, you’re allowed to set your blanket down for the concert at 5pm the day before. There will be fireworks during the patriotic numbers and a few more fireworks at the end.
