FirstWorks presents Los Angeles-based three-piece Cloud Eye Control, a multimedia performance collective working in music, animation, film and even puppetry. (Full disclosure: I did a little bit of work with FirstWorks this season.) Half Life was inspired by the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, and the effects of physical disaster on emotions and imaginations. Featuring projected animation and live performance, the show’s stated goal is “to summon the unseeable forces that govern our collective sense of personal safety and control,” and while I think they mostly mean environmentally, this still seems very timely given all the awful world news lately.
