World War I was my all accounts a supremely dreadful time to be alive, so its ending on November 11, 1918 was a pretty joyous day. (Unless you were one of the millions of people with the deadly flu that was going around at the same time, but that’s a story for a different choral performance.) Local choral ensemble Collegium Ancora marks the centenary of the Armistice with a choral performance featuring Mendelssohn (“Verleih uns Frieden”) and Bach (“Dona Nobis Pacem” from the B-minor mass), plus “Five Poems from the Great War,” a world premiere from Canadian composer Colin Eatock.
