Formed in Mexico way back in 1982, El Cuarteto Latinoamericano returns to Providence for a concert highlighting seven Latin American composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, who between them represent Cuba, Brazil, Uruguay, Costa Rica, and Argentina. (There’s a tango or two, naturally.) The quartet have won all kinds of awards – Latin Grammys, Mexican Music Critics Association Awards, etc. – as well as three “Most Adventurous Programming” Awards from Chamber Music America. The concert is presented by Rhode Island Chamber Music Concerts, a local organization now in its 85th season.
