After a year of renovations, Barrington Library is back with their classic film series, which rather annoyingly happen at 1:30 in the afternoon. I’m sure their four-week Olivia de Havilland film festival is mostly targeted to retirees anyway, but how inconvenient! Anyway, 1946 noir thriller The Dark Mirror features double the de Havilland, with the actress playing identical twins under investigation for murder. The director clearly didn’t think the audience would be able to follow the plot so the twins are branded with monogrammed brooches and necklaces that spell out their names. Side note: did you know that Olivia de Havilland is still alive? This summer, just before her 101st birthday, she became the oldest British woman to ever be granted Dame status.
