Eagles of Death Metal were on Conan O’Brien the other night peddling a jokey line of bouncy castles, but in interviews frontman Jesse Hughes is more inclined to talk about the PTSD he’s suffering. In November, 83 people were killed during the band’s performance at the Bataclan in Paris. But Hughes and his touring band have resumed the tour to promote Zipper Down, last year’s fun collection of self-aware rock songs that are mostly about having sex or wanting to have sex. (The album closes with an unironic Duran Duran cover.) It’s nothing like death metal and even less like the Eagles.
