Brown’s Literary Arts department presents a two-day festival honoring recently retired poet/translator Forrest Gander. The festival opens with a 5pm reading from essayist and translator Eliot Weinberger, whose 2016 collection The Ghosts of Birds features essays on everything from Mongolian art to George W. Bush’s 2010 memoir Decision Points. The reading is followed by a video screening at 8:30. (I’m assuming there’s a break in the middle and that Weinberger won’t be reading for three and a half hours.) Then on Friday there’s a talk on contemporary poetry publishing, plus readings by four poets and two translators.
