Three Italian composers are featured the latest concert from Dorry winners ENSEMBLE / PARALLAX. Now in its second season, artistic director Peyman Farzinpour’s ensemble has filled a rather gaping void for avant garde and contemporary European performance. Luigi Nono’s is known primarily for vehemently political compositions, but …sofferte onde serene… (1976) is an atypically apolitical piece for piano and tape. Sequenza IXa (1980) is a solo clarinet work from Luciano Berio, while Luca Francesconi’s A Fuoco (1995) is a longer piece for guitar and ensemble, never before performed in New England. Two of Farzinpour’s own works round out the evening.
