Escape-ism is the new solo project from foppish rocker Ian Svenonius, the busy DC-based leader of Nation of Ulysses, The Make-Up and, more recently, Chain and the Gang. The capital city plays a big part in his work. He has a song about how rich people were just born that way, which is a very DC sentiment, and he’s got another one about the stairs from The Exorcist. (It’s a major attraction for a certain segment of the city’s tourists, and also a popular running spot for locals.) Also on the docket are Shells, Whore Paint, and Querent At The Mirror Door.
