Israeli film star Yehezkel Lazarov stars as Tevye in the North American Tour of Fiddler on the Roof, the eternally popular musical about a milkman trying to marry off his daughters. Set on a shtetl in 1905, the show features quite a few memorable songs including “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” and wedding standard “Sunrise, Sunset.” Originally choreographed by Jerome Robbins in the early sixties, the revival gets an enthusiastic dance makeover from Israeli choreographer Hofesh Shechter. It’s a big show, running about three hours with intermission, but other cities only have nice things to report, particularly with regard to the big wedding number where men balance wine bottles on their heads.
Sunday’s showtimes are 1pm and 6:30pm.
