There’s a surprising shortage of information circulating about Connecticut filmmaker Justin Reichman’s Formerly Ourselves, Formerly Incarcerated, but it seems to be a documentary in which black men reveal the details of life on the inside. From the blurb: “at times angry, but mostly told with poise and calm, the stories reflect how those locked away in far flung hidden prisons are treated, how juvenile detention is a good meeting place for your next crime, [and] how easy it is to get shot minding your own business.” The screening features a live score by violinist and composer Robert Pycior (O’Death).
