Live music in a video arcade sounds like fun! Glass Apple Bonzai is an 80s-inspired synthpop project from a Canadian named Daniel X. Belasco. His 2016 concept album In the Dark was inspired by the Satanic panic of the early eighties, an interesting entry in a musical genre prone to romanticizing the era of Ronald Reagan and the AIDS epidemic. (Locals may remember Fall River as the epicenter of Satanic cult news, but the paranoia actually began in Canada.) He’ll be joined by Straplocked, a Connecticut musician who injects hard rock guitar solos into his synthpop songs, and Providence duo Video Shoppe, whose most recent release is actually called Nostalgia Trap(s).
