Newly restored by the original cinematographer, John Carpenter’s newly rereleased Halloween features a filmed intro by the director, who shot the film in 1978 with such tight budget constraints that the setting (suburban Illinois in the fall) was filmed in Pasadena in April. It’s playing at a few places this week – Tuesday at AS220, Thursday at Bucket Brewery, and over the weekend at Entertainment Cinemas in South Kingstown. Jamie Lee Curtis and a man in a stretched out white William Shatner mask star in the slasher film about an escaped murderer, a young man named Michael Myers who started killing at the age of six.
(Note: I’m not sure how much this one costs.)
