Love, intrigue, betrayal, murder, a ghost, poisoned wine, and of course, the obligatory fencing duel – Hamlet has it all! At the end of The Rhode Island Shakespeare Theatre’s performance of Shakespeare’s most popular play, almost half of the cast will be dead. TRIST’s Rudy Sanda delivers a standout performance portraying the frustrated young noble man. Wiry, sly and edgy, his Hamlet is energetic and slightly mad. To contemporize the play, director Bob Colonna has dressed the actors in everyday clothes and equipped them with cell phones, which serve as a tool to move the play along. Still, the play clocks in at 2.5 hours so check the weather, bundle up and consider bringing a blanket in addition to your lawn chair (and maybe even a hot beverage).
