Highlights from The Russell DeSimone Collection on The Dorr Rebellion

A lot of people may not realize why this list is called Law And Order Party. For the first few months it didn’t have a name; the emails were simply called What’s Happening This Week. I wanted something relevant to Rhode Island but not too basic, and I came across the name while reading up on the Dorr Rebellion, an armed conflict in 1842 which briefly led to Rhode Island having two separate, competing state governments. (To be clear: the Law and Order Party were definitely the bad guys.) Providence Public Library’s exhibit features memorabilia and artifacts related to the incident.
