After sending last Sunday’s newsletter I planned to check out the matinee performance of In Her Own Words: The Diana Tapes, but then I, um, didn’t. Produced by New York company What Will The Neighbors Day? and staged rather unusually at the Social Enterprise Greenhouse, James Clements’ thriller dives into the publication of Andrew Morton’s 1991 tell-all Princess Diana biography. The depressed, lonely princess surreptitiously fed Morton her own story, allowing him access to her innermost thoughts, but only under the condition that her cooperation be kept secret. (As a side note, this August marks the twentieth anniversary of Diana’s death; the biography’s being republished along with Diana’s original audio recordings.)
The play is performed twice on Sunday, at 2pm and 8pm.
