Brooklyn writer Jessica Winter heads to Westerly to promote her debut novel Break In Case of Emergency, which comes out on Tuesday. The satire deals with Jen, a thirty-ish woman whose workday is wasted at a feminist foundation run by an ego-driven celebrity named Leora Infinitas. The foundation’s vague goal is to empower women, but that’s not really how things pan out. Early reviews are positive, although two decades after Bridget Jones I don’t know how many more of these zany journeys of self-discovery I can go on.
