I remember reading – and really enjoying – John Banville’s hit novel The Sea in 2006, the year it won the Booker Prize, but all these years later I’m not sure I could tell you a single thing about Banville’s writing style, let alone the book’s plot. To be fair, the Irish novelist has 16 other books published under his own name (plus a series of crime novels under a pseudonym), and piles of awards. An appealing interview subject, he’s at Brown for a short reading followed by a discussion about his work with professor Paul Armstrong.
The Salomon Center is located on Brown’s Main Green. If you pass through the arches on Waterman Street, it’s pretty much straight ahead.
