GO AWAY is a new feature where we highlight events in nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts. Brooklyn, CT is only 45 minutes from Providence and 10 from the state line.
Facebook keeps taunting me with ads for this half-off Kenneth Anger jacket and if it weren’t $400 I would totally snap it up. Speaking of Kenneth Anger and money, I once owed $45 to Acme Video for an overdue VHS copy of the iconoclastic filmmaker’s 1968 Invocation of My Demon Brother. When I finally popped it into the VCR all those weeks later, I was disappointed to realize that the whole film is only about eleven minutes long. Luckily there won’t be any fines to pay at this two-hour mini-fest of the iconoclastic filmmaker’s shorts. Anger was a follower of Thelema, the religion founded by English magician Aleister Crowley in the early 1900s, so expect things to get kind of weird. (I don’t know much about this venue, but it’s a Gnostic Temple not far from the state line.)
