I wasn’t expecting queer anarchist dance-punk performer La Neve’s debut album to sound like Manchester in 1989, but album opener “A Pretty Red” is a six-minute pop song with sneering Happy Mondays vocals and loads of New Fast Automatic Daffodils percussion. It gets dancier, and then half an hour later there’s a Stone Roses cover. The album release/Halloween party also features Boston rappers Camp Blood, Providence punks Drooly, drag provocateur Kurt Fowl, and DJ Dayglow. The theme is haunted disco and costumes are encouraged.
