No one plans anything on Labor Day because they know everyone will be at the beach or at a cookout or at whatever other outdoor thing they can possibly find. Even movie studios phone it in – after a summer of brand-driven special effects extravaganzas, this weekend’s biggest release features Michael Fassbender as a lighthouse keeper in 1920s Australia.
Luckily, there’s the 18th annual Labor Day Open House at Woonsocket’s Museum of Work & Culture. This year’s event also marks the debut of the Mill Workers’ Memory Bank, a registry featuring digital profiles of former mill workers. In the morning, the National Park Service will also give two guided walking tours of downtown Woonsocket.
