Studio Z was a great gallery space, spacious and well-lit, but it closed last fall after a disappointing dispute with the Butcher Block Mill’s new landlords. Now the gallery is once again operating out of its previous Atwells Avenue location, though the space suddenly feels extremely tiny and cramped. Amidst the chaos, look out for the work of two black and white photographers: Larry Sykes, who long ago founded the photography program at Rhode Island College, and Alan Metnick, a Providence-based artist who has been photographing Poland for over a decade.
