Yesterday I finished reading Francine Prose’s loony Mister Monkey, a novel all about coincidences and theater and how interconnected everybody is. The book centers around a crappy children’s musical that people mostly take their grandkids to when they can’t afford tickets to The Lion King. None of this has anything to do with Little Women The Musical, of course, except that tickets to see the perennially beloved sisters are considerably cheaper than tickets for The Lion King at PPAC. Speaking of coincidences, though: Little Women author Louisa May Alcott actually lived in Paris for a time with Rosa Peckham, whose work is currently on display at Providence Art Club.
