I’m not generally a fan of historic re-enactors, but this one seems goofy enough that it might be fun. It’s been 125 years ago since Andrew and Abbie Borden were done in with an axe. Most bed and breakfasts would play down a gruesome murder, but Fall River’s Lizzie Borden House does exactly the opposite, with an annual re-enactment of the crime each August. (They even sell Lizzie Borden bobblehead figures.) It’s an interactive house tour/theatrical production where you the viewer have to decide who killed Lizzie’s bank president father and stepmother. (Despite public opinion, Lizzie continued to live in Fall River for thirty-five years after the killings.)
There are tours every half hour on Friday and Saturday, but reservations should be made ahead of time.
