Cape Verdean crooner Loony Johnson heads to Lupo’s – or Roxy, whatever – for a night of kizomba with a live band. For anyone who doesn’t know much about world music trends, kizomba is a sort of quiet storm of percussive, slow burning R&B, complete with its own style of sexy couples dancing. It originated in Angola in the eighties, but now it’s a big deal in Cape Verde and throughout much of the Portuguese-speaking world. Loony Johnson was born António Miranda, but built a name for himself as DJ Loony. This is one of those 21+/Proper Dress Required shows.
