This month Middletown’s Norman Bird Sanctuary launches its inaugural Mabel Residency, a two-week program featuring ten artists. Newport Art Museum hosts two chances to meet the artists and learn about their work. Divided into two groups, this first talk features Cuban-American artist Anthony Goicolea, who last year was commissioned by the state of New York to create the first-ever LGBTQ monument in New York City. Other artists include locals Elizabeth Duffy and Lois Harada, as well as Boston sculptor Meredith Morten and New York artist James Isherwood. A second talk with the rest of the artists takes place on September 19.
Seating is limited so advance registration is encouraged.
