I’ve liked the installation work of Max Van Pelt for a few years now, I think since he took part in the Hera Gallery’s relay exhibits a few summers back. I’m not so sure about his paintings, though I admit I’ve yet to get to get to URI for his solo show, a combo of diagonally bisected abstractions and sticklike sculptural work. Exhibits at the university’s Main Gallery tend to fly under the radar but this one might be worth a visit to Kingston.
