First produced in 2007, Viktor Plotnikov’s Coma takes unlikely source material (a 1978 sci-fi thriller starring Michael Douglas) and turns it into what Dance Magazine called “an emphatic and deeply personal effort, realized with singularity and intelligence.” Festival Ballet pulls it out every few years; this time it’s part of a three-ballet performance with alongside Yury Yanowksy’s social media meditation Smoke and Mirrors, where the female dancers wear unusual corsets with handles. George Balanchine’s Serenade rounds out the program.
