Masochists with a lot of time on their hands might one day want to pick up Margaret Mitchell’s thousand-page novel Gone With the Wind, but those of us with less patience can settle for the comparatively breezy four-hour movie version from 1939. On second thought, never mind. Perhaps it would be best to try Moonlight and Magnolias, Ron Hutchinson’s 2004 comedy about the frantic week of eleventh-hour script rewrites that occurred five weeks into shooting that problematic blockbuster. It’s being staged by the Barn Summer Theatre at Roger Williams University, who have temporarily relocated to Providence in the hopes of wooing fans that might not otherwise drive to drive to Bristol for a play.
