Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight might be the most buzzed about movie this fall, and I’ve been waiting impatiently to see for weeks now. Told in three acts over the course of twenty years, the Miami-set tale centers around a young gay man named Chiron who’s raised by a crack-addicted mother in gritty Miami. Three different actors play Chiron from elementary school through adulthood, but there’s serious Oscar buzz surrounding English actress Naomie Harris, who plays the mom. Better known to viewers as Moneypenny from the last few James Bond movies, Harris filmed all her scenes in three days while on a break from a press tour promoting Spectre. Moonlight also marks the film debut of singer Janelle Monáe.
