Newport Playhouse is a dinner theater experience that involves a combined buffet, play, and cabaret. (Hey, that rhymes.) They’re doing Nana’s Naughty Knickers right now, a feel-good farce about an octogenarian running an underground lingerie shop called Saucy Slips, Etc. out of her rent-controlled New York apartment. (Her landlord is waiting until Nana goes to the “big rent-controlled apartment in the sky.”) The play was written by Katherine DiSavino, who modestly premiered it six years ago in her parents’ Lancaster, Pennsylvania dinner theater. Since then, it’s become quite the sensation on the dinner (or in this case lunch) circuit, all tacky lingerie and hearing aid jokes.
Doors open at 11am with the buffet starting at 11:30.
