The Narragansett Bay Symphony Community Orchestra wraps up its 2018-19 season with a concert led by guest conductor Kristo Kondakçi. Clara Yang will perform as soloist for Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor. First performed one hundred years ago, it was the English composer’s last major work for orchestra, and its brooding mood reflected Elgar’s deep depression about the destruction wrought by World War I. That’ll be followed by Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D Major. Now in its fifth season, the orchestra’s mission is to provide classical music throughout Rhode Island at affordable price points. They’re taking non-perishable food items at the door for the Rhode Island Food Bank.
