Chinese films rarely get theatrical released in the United States, but animated epic Ne Zha was so insanely popular in its homeland – it’s already the second-highest grossing film in the country’s history – that it’s getting a run here, too. The PG-rated epic combines Pixar-style computer animation with a superhero origin story based (very loosely, I guess) on a 17thcentury novel called Investiture of the Gods. Young Ne Zha is part god, part demon, and destined to die on his third birthday. Lots of action sequences ensue. This one’s only playing in East Providence, which is probably too bad because everything that plays there is so murky looking and, based on the trailer, this one’s pretty visually over the top.
