First performed in 2011, Alan Ayckbourn’s 75th play deals with a brother and sister who naïvely set up a neighborhood watch – or I guess a neighbourhood watch, since they’re British – in response to some petty trespassing and vandalism at the Bluebird Hill housing development. Things take quite a grim turn, though, when a garden gnome is thrown through a window and the watch group escalates rather quickly into a dangerous mob of vigilantes. The play has a great deal of contemporary relevance.
