Brown’s Literary Arts program brings five writers to town for a one-day festival of African writing. The five fiction writers, all of whom currently reside in the United States, include four Nigerians: Chinelo Okparanta (Under the Udala Trees), Okey Ndibe (Foreign Gods, Inc.), Uwem Akpan (Say You’re One of Them), and Providence College professor E.C. Osundu (Voice of America). Zambian author Namwali Serpell (“The Sack”) rounds out the lineup. A panel discussion with the writers starts at 9:30am, and then at 12:45 each writer will take turns reading from their work.
