At the age of 86, legendary choreographer Paul Taylor shows no sign of stopping, or really of even slowing down. His eponymous dance company has been performing regularly since 1954, and The Open Door is Taylor’s 146th dance. FirstWorks brings Taylor and ten dancers to Providence for this world premiere – seriously, we’re getting this one before Lincoln Center – which is set to music from the fabulously mustachioed composer Edward Elgar. The evening also includes a performance of Taylor’s groundbreaking 1974 piece Esplanade, which until now has never been performed in Rhode Island. (Oh, and hang on to your ticket stubs for a free morning-after conversation at the RISD Museum with principal dancers from the company.)
