A few summers ago I played the heck out of Voices, the sophomore album by New York duo Phantogram. Their moody, low-key pop bangers sound a little like Blonde Redhead, but there’s something a little more vixen-y in Sarah Barthel’s vocal stylings. You can hear it when she says the word “high” on recent alternative radio hit “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore,” from the pair’s third album (helpfully titled Three). New single “Same Old Blues” is even stronger, an all-over-the-place stomper with jittery percussion and gospel organs. Foreign Air is the opening act.
