“Americans are very interested in war,” National Book Award winner Phil Klay recently said in an interview. “It’s just that they like to be told particular things about it. Our discussion seems almost entirely symbolic.” Klay served as a Public Affairs officer in Iraq after finishing college, and his 2014 story collection Redeployment looks at war from all sorts of angles and voices. As the semester wraps up, Brown’s Writers on Writing series is going into hyperdrive – this is one of three events they’re doing this week.
