Back in 1998, PJ Harvey played Jesus’s personal assistant Magdalena in a pre-millennially tense film called The Book of Life. Mary Magdalene is a pretty crucial element in the Easter story, so sure, why not celebrate the holiday with an evening of tribute to the British rock star? Judging from the setlist, the night will be heavy on Harvey’s nineties work, including the title tracks from her early albums Dry, Rid of Me, and To Bring You My Love. Speaking of albums, Harvey’s ninth is out next month. Lead single “The Wheel” is very, very good, although I’m not yet sold on just-released follow-up “The Community of Hope”.
