British artist Polly Morgan is in town talking about the use of taxidermy in her sculptural practice. In one series, Morgan rests dead birds atop frames containing delicate drawings of nests, each drawn with cremated bird ashes. It’s rather grim, if death unsettles you, but quite effective regardless. Morgan’s talk is part of the programming around Dead Animals, the Bell Gallery’s group study of contemporary art incorporating, um, dead animals. Maurizio Cattelan, Damien Hirst, and Kate Clark are among the other seventeen artists taking part in the show.
